MACON COUNTY ARC APRIL 30, 2026 MEETING REPORT

Jesse Jones, the Macon County ARC President conducted the Club meeting. Dale’, KØKY gave the treasurers report for Charles Roberts, who was our representative at the Credit Union Meeting.

REPORT ON APRIL MEETING

One of the principal topics for discussion was the planning for the NØPR operation of the ARRL Field Day on June 27th and 28th. We can use the Macon Educational Facility behind Crown Implement Company on Blees Industrial Drive again this year. We have used that facility for Field Day since 2023. The main downside is it is a little harder to set-up antenna. We discussed the number of operating stations we will set-up at Field Day. We will make our final plans for Field Day at the May 28th FD Preparation and Meeting at the QTH of KØKY. The last several years we have operated as

3A with GOTA station.

Chris Clark, KFØGUS, gave the VE Exam Update for ARRL VE Liaison Dan Will, WØPN, who had a job schedule conflict. Chris, KFØGUS will give Dan the updated list of Volunteer Examiners. Dan has now completed the process of being the NØPR VE Liaison with the ARRL. The newest VE with NØPR Team, Chris Imgarten KCØWEI, has been qualified by the ARRL.

The weather, namely rain and high winds have caused a delay with taking down Jace, KEØOTA and Sally, KDØNTZ’s tower. They have been busy getting Sally’s mom moved into her home that Jace has built for her. I know we will complete the removal of the tower so that they can finish up some other projects that they are working on.

Chris, KFØGUS, and Kay, WAØWOF, really enjoyed the Kansas City Hambash this year. There were probably some others in our Club that attended, but I don’t have their names.

RADIO CLUB WORK DAY THURSDAY MAY 28TH

The Club voted to have a work day at the next regular club meeting. You need to bring some diagonal plyers to cut zip-ties and a few other regular tools. A good sturdy pair of gloves and “work” clothes would be helpful to work on the coax and rotor cable reclamation. We need a couple of rolls of electrical tape to keep the cables together when they are stored. We will order enough pizza for everyone and we can have something to eat during the meeting. We should be done with the Field Day Prep. and the meeting by 8:00 p.m.

UPCOMING HAMFESTS

There will be a Pre-Field Day Hamfest in Springfield, MO on June 6th located at 1707 W. Chestnut Expressway, $10.00 tickets at the door.

The St. Louis Area Hamfest sponsored by the Egyptian ARC will be on June 14, 2026 at the VFW Post 4223 located at 215 Military Road, St. Louis MO.
